In more than 30 years in banking and trade, Richard Fisher has played central roles in guiding the U.S. and its economy.
Notably, Mr. Fisher served as President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas from April 2005 to March 2015, a critical period for the economy during which he sounded the alarm about a housing crisis two years before it triggered what would be known as “the Great Recession.”
Prior to that position, he was Vice Chairman of Kissinger McLarty Associates, a strategic advisory firm formed by former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and White House Chief of Staff Mack McLarty.
From 1997 to 2001, Mr. Fisher was Deputy United States Trade Representative with the rank of Ambassador. In this role, Ambassador Fisher oversaw the implementation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), the largest trading relationship of the United States. He also negotiated the U.S.-Korea Auto Agreement of 1998; the U.S.-Vietnam Bilateral Trade Agreement, signed in 2001; and the initiation of the U.S.-Singapore Free Trade Agreement. In addition, Ambassador Fisher played a key role in negotiating the U.S.-China agreement for Chinese accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and, separately, the accession of Taiwan to the WTO.
Mr. Fisher is currently President and CEO of RWF Financial, Inc., Senior Adviser to Barclays PLC and serves on the Board of Directors of Tenet Health Care, AT&T and PepsiCo in addition to Ben.
Mr. Fisher earned an MBA from Stanford University and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Harvard University.
